Our Approach
Optimum oral health is best achieved through the development of a therapeutic relationship with those who choose to join our practice family. An interdependent and voluntary relationship based on dignity, mutual respect, and shared values allows for the expression of every individual’s right to the freedom of choice, the pursuit of both spiritual and material happiness, and the duty of personal responsibility. We use only the finest labs in the state and only the best dental materials for a predictable, long lasting restorative and prosthetic work.
Healthy interpersonal relationships throughout our practice encourage an environment conducive to improving the quality of life for all concerned. The first step in the establishment of this relationship begins with our initial evaluation. We believe this step is crucial. It is through this comprehensive evaluation process that we come to know you as a complete person rather than just a set of teeth. Furthermore, we see the mouth as one of many complex systems that make up the human body. The health of this system is often a mirror for the health of the rest of the body.
Our dental practice is dedicated to the promotion of this health. We are not simply a repair shop. We choose to base our methods of care on the promotion of health and the prevention of disease and infection, rather than implementing strictly disease-centered curing methods. It is this conscious choice that drives our practice and, in turn, provides our patients with the highest quality, most effective oral health care possible.
Your Initial Visit
Our goal during your initial visit with us is to become familiar with you personally as well as with your total oral condition. The first step in this process is to attain a comprehensive medical and dental history. We need to know what prescription medicines you are taking or have recently taken. It is important that this information be current and accurate. We also need to know the circumstances surrounding any hospitalizations that you may have had in the past two years.
Also, we are finding more and more people who are being advised of the need to take antibiotics prior to any dental treatment due to the potential for heart valve damage. If your physician has advised you of this requirement, please comply by taking the prescribed medicine one hour prior to your appointment. If you have any questions or if you need a prescription called in, please call our office manager, Lark, prior to your appointment.
Following your health history, we will take the appropriate radiographs to effectively provide a diagnosis. Next, we will perform a thorough extra- and intra-oral inspection. Finally, we may take a short series of intra-oral photographs and study models to help us in further evaluating your dental needs.
Please note that we do not schedule any treatment at the time of the initial visit. We are precluded by law from rendering any treatment prior to the formulation of a diagnosis. We have found over the years that an accurate diagnosis can be determined only after a thorough evaluation of all the data.
After your initial visit, we will ask you to return. We will then provide you with a written review of our findings, along with a diagnosis and recommended treatment, if any. We will also attempt to factor in your insurance co-payment if applicable. At this point, you will have all the information we can provide in order for you to make the treatment choices you feel are in your best interest.
Financial Arrangements
In addition to making your dental experience comfortable, we work very hard to make financing comfortable! Our office manager can help maximize your dental insurance benefits and help arrange financing for your dentistry. Give us a call. We’ll help you find the plan that is best for you!
